How to Vote in Sedgwick County

📝 Step 1 — Register to Vote

You must be registered at least 21 days before the election to vote. For the August 4 primary, the deadline is July 14, 2026.

Online

Fastest option. Requires a valid Kansas driver's license or state ID. Visit ksvotes.org

B

By Mail

Download and mail the Kansas Voter Registration form. Must be postmarked by July 14. Spanish version available.

C

In Person

Visit the Election Office at 3639 N. Comotara St., Suite 101, Wichita KS 67226 by July 14.

⚠️ Kansas closed primary: Only registered Republicans may vote in the Republican primary; only registered Democrats in the Democratic primary. Unaffiliated voters cannot participate in party primaries. If you want to vote in a specific primary, make sure your registration party matches.

🪪 Step 2 — Know your ID requirements

Kansas requires photo ID to vote in person. Your ID must not be expired (with one exception: voters age 65+ may use an expired ID).

ℹ️ No ID? You may cast a provisional ballot without ID. You then have until close of business on the Friday after the election to bring ID to the Election Office to have your provisional ballot counted.

Exemptions from photo ID: Permanent advance voters (voters with illness/disability who always vote by mail), military and overseas voters, and voters with sincere religious objections who sign a Declaration of Religious Objection (Form DRO) at the polls.

🗳️ Step 3 — Choose how you'll vote

Option A: Vote on Election Day

Polls are open 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM on August 4, 2026. Bring your photo ID. Find your assigned polling place at voteks.org.

Option B: Early In-Person Voting

Early voting typically opens about 2 weeks before the election at the main Election Office, then expands to up to 20 satellite locations in the final week.

Option C: Vote by Mail

Any registered Kansas voter may request a mail ballot — no excuse required.
